Expand The Reach Of Your Podcast Through Podscope

June 24th, 2007 · No Comments

Podcasters who are looking for ways to expand the market reach of their podcast may look onto the offering of Podscope. Podscope which is launched two years ago and a part of TVEyes, is said to be the first search engine that allows users to search for spoken words within any audio or video file.

Podcasters can submit the RSS feed of their URL and Podscope will include their podcast in their listings. Podscope will create an index against every word to make the contents of your podcast searchable.

The user on the other hand can now search on any term. Podscope will then generate a list of results ranked by a variety of methods, find the most relevant podcast and make it available to the user. The user may then click to play or click to download the searched podcast.

I tried searching using Podscope and obtained results of the audio from some of the popular podcasts such as NPR, Slate Magazine Podcast, Democracy Now, Daily Source Code, Geek News Central, and Marketing Matters. So I guess that podcasters can really use this to promote or advertise their podcasts in a subtle way.
