Setting Your Podcast Frequency

March 16th, 2007 · No Comments

Setting the frequency of a podcast is very important especially if you want to have regular listeners or audiences. In the audiences’ point of view, a podcast that is published in the usual intervals are the most advantageous on their part because they are certain when they can check for the new episode.

Determining the frequency of your podcast is of course, depends on you: your schedule, your show’s format and your podcast’s topic. Radio or music podcast and talk show podcast with wide range of topics or those typical podcast that tackles their personal journeys/whereabouts are the one that are usually released more often.

In fact, these are the shows that you can produce daily or every other day because you can actually have new story or insights to share everyday based on your daily experiences and interactions. Remember that the more often you released your podcast, the better bonding you can develop with your audiences.

On the other hand, if you want to create sports, comic, technology or science podcast, then, the most convenient frequency is the weekly and twice a week schedule. These genres somehow necessitate preparation because you need to research, read and gather factual data. You can attract and hold audiences if you can give them interesting and informative topics each episode.

Also, duration or show length is equally important as setting the podcast frequency. If you will release episode daily or several times during the week, the ideal episode length is within 30 minutes and around an hour if your show is being released weekly.

Lastly, provide as many listening options as possible to your website so that you could serve the different preferences of your audiences. See to it that you regularly update your website every time you released new episode and have your episodes clickable so that your audiences can preview or download your episodes right there and then. And of course, make your subscribe button very prominent and let your audiences know that subscribing is the most convenient way of listening/watching your show.
