With the explosion of blogs, podcasts and other multimedia contents that make use of RSS to deliver or publish them on the web, no wonder that there is a bunch of RSS tools that are available in the market today. I do not really have in-depth understanding on the technical aspects of these RSS tools and I thought that all those RSS feeds are basically the same.
Not until I read the post of Marshall Kirkpatrick as he is looking for the best RSS reader for rich media. The almost comprehensive comparison he made is great. It clearly point out the positive and negative sides of the most popular RSS readers around. And it made me understand how important it is to look for the RSS reader that will serve your purpose.
And according to Kirkpatrick’s findings, he cannot find RSS reader at the moment that has combined features of rich media support, integration with 3rd party tagging and sharing services and a “river of news” view which I think very important to those involve in social media networking.
But with Kirkpatrick’s RSS reader comparison table that includes Google Reader, Bloglines, Newsgator, NetNewsWire, FeedDemon, NewsFire, BlogBridge, FeedLounge, RSSOwl and Rojo, bloggers, podcasters or web users will be able to decide which among those available RSS readers has the features or functionalities that nearly suffice their requirement to get and manage their desired feeds.
