Podcast Your Files With Odiogo

October 8th, 2006 · 2 Comments

In my search for good software that will convert blog posts or any text files into podcast, I get acquainted with Odiogo, The News On the Go software that will transform your text into spoken words. Odiogo can be used to download articles or write up from various websites and convert them into audio files. This will allow you to get in touch with your favorite or daily readings while in the gym, while driving or while you are lying on the bed.

Odiogo is not a new software as it was launched October of last year but I decided to write something about this because of podcasting. I know that this can be a good software for podcasters especially when you wish to podcast a lot of your text files or podcast an archive of your blog for the past years. Odiogo is particularly a big help for those who are not confident with their voice or do not want to use their voice in their podcast show.

Unlike other similar software, Odiogo allows you to add and podcast any website that have an RSS feed. Every page of text converts, on average, into a 2 MB audio file, allowing approximately 256 articles to be stored on a 512 MB MP3 player.

This program works with any MP3-enabled devices like your PDA, phones, laptop or iPod. The quality of the voice generated files is superb. For just $29.99, you can begin podcasting or convert a text or simply download your non-podcast RSS subscriptions with ease. The Odiogo software already comes with 200 preinstalled news feeds from CNN, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Time, BBC, The Washington Post and Rolling Stone.

[…] In fact, I have written some similar blogs about text converting software and encouraging podcasters to try them I am not saying that this is the best way to podcast because nothing can beat a real human voice especially if you are hosting a talk show. It would be boring to hear computer generated voices but in instances when you can not speak well, or just podcasting news and literature or simply want to provide a podcast version of your huge file or blog archives, this software will really come handy. Yeah, I was looking for something like this. Odiogo is $30, and I found this: www.audiodizer.com. It looks pretty new and its all web based and free!
